Our latest kitchen project takes place in a home that has captivated the owner’s imagination since her childhood. This residence exudes the charm of a quaint English cottage boasting brick walkways, a welcoming screened porch, a painted white brick fireplace, and a stunning three-paneled window overlooking the backyard.

Upon moving in, our clients had to get creative with the tight space, installing a double stack laundry in the kitchen and placing an oversized refrigerator in the dining room. The kitchen posed some challenges – there wasn’t enough room to prep, no island, and have you ever found yourself cooking while your guests are in another room socializing? Yeah, not ideal. But they were determined to make it work for their young family. Their goal? A brighter, minimalist open-concept kitchen.

Enter our client’s resourceful contractor husband, JBN Custom Designs, who skillfully removed walls, replaced the window over the sink, and introduced a beautiful sliding door to let more light in. Their aesthetic? A timeless, streamlined look, drawing inspiration from earthy mushroom tones. Semi-custom Kith Kitchens Cottage Maple frameless full overlay cabinets in Beige were the perfect mix of clean lines and a gorgeous finish.

Defining touches for this beauty: brushed gold cabinet hardware from Frank Webb and Dany Vaniglia  backsplash tiles from Cortina Tile.  Completing the ensemble, a Kith Hood above the PC Richard Jenn Air range, whose brass accent knobs add a touch of sophistication.

Two petite light fixtures frame the three-panel window, and the striking Azure quartz countertops, from Ambiance Stone, harmonize beautifully with the gold Blanco faucet from Build and a lovely farmhouse sink.

But the real star?  The island. It’s not just for prepping – it’s a hangout spot, a place to enjoy a cup of joe, and incorporates a hinged door combo microwave/oven, a highlight for the kiddos. Who wouldn’t love an appliance that can both bake goodies and make popcorn, all at the right height of a youngster.

Long story short, our clients are well on their way to making this home their own, room by room, while keeping that cozy cottage charm intact. And let me tell you, we couldn’t be happier to help them live out their childhood dream!
