The Kitchen Story

A Coastal Retreat: From Congestion to Coastal Calm in Madison, CT

When this husband and wife traded the high-speed congestion of Fairfield County for a more intentional lifestyle in Madison, CT, they sought more than just a new house. They wanted a “forever” retirement retreat.

They found a beautiful 1960s home with plenty of potential, but the existing kitchen felt stuck in the past. With an outdated layout and tired colors, the space needed a change. Seeking a total refresh that matched the serenity of the shoreline, the couple turned to our team to transform the heart of their home.

Building Trust

Having renovated before, the clients were wary of high-pressure sales tactics. The homeowners shared that they loved our approach, especially after encountering other showrooms that demanded hefty down payments just to start a basic conversation.

Our team built a foundation of trust by dedicating five free hours of planning to the project before asking for a commitment or payment.

The efficiency of virtual meetings allowed the clients to perfect their layout and design without the stress of constant travel.

During the Budget and Planning, their Client Manager was great with her responsiveness, while John was a big help with window and appliance placement.

High-End Customization and Creative Solutions

The renovation presented significant structural puzzles. To create the open-concept feel the couple craved, their contractor, Rob Murphy, with Islandview Woodworks LLC, removed existing beams and installed structural posts. The client described Rob as outstanding, reasonable, and meticulous!

The Art of the Cabinetry: Showplace

The semi-custom Showplace Cabinetry sets the tone for the kitchen. The Pendleton doorstyle offers a timeless look that defines the kitchen’s new aesthetic. This choice allowed the homeowners to achieve a high-end, inset look that typically carries a much higher price tag in the Madison area.

The perimeter features an Extra White finish, which provides a crisp, gallery-like backdrop for the professional-grade Fisher & Paykel induction range and Sub-Zero refrigerator.

At the center of the kitchen, the oversized island showcases a Smokey Blue finish. This sophisticated hue pulls in the coastal vibes of the nearby Long Island Sound. This island offers more than just prep space; it houses a built-in KitchenAid wall oven and a Sharp microwave drawer. These choices keep the sightlines clear and the workspace functional for hosting.

This clean aesthetic extends into a dedicated beverage center, where lighted glass-front uppers and a beverage fridge create a sophisticated transition between the kitchen and living spaces.

A New Chapter in Madison

The client noted that the final result is a kitchen that feels luxurious and functional. From the custom countertops by Diversity to the high-end appliances sourced locally from Page Hardware, every inch fits their new lifestyle perfectly.

The clients favorite feature: the island! It offers so much room for hosting, and the posts add a great detail.

Now settled into their Madison home, the couple enjoys a space that proves retirement doesn’t mean slowing down—it means living better!
