The Kitchen Story

When this couple moved into their home in 2013, they knew the kitchen needed a transformation. For this couple, more important than getting it done quickly was getting it done just right. So they took their time, allowing the homeowner, a passionate HGTV fan, to dream, sketch, and reimagine what the kitchen could become. The main challenge? A lack of counter space and narrow, cramped cabinets that made the layout inefficient. Their vision was clear: brighten the space and create more functional storage, with must-haves like tray dividers and a dedicated spot for pots and pans.

When it came time to finalize the layout and design details, they turned to Dean Cabinetry to bring their ideas to life. The kitchen had its fair share of quirks, including a post inconveniently located in the middle of the room. Luckily, they were in the skilled hands of Chrisopher Kohn of Gryffin Everett Custom Building & Remodeling. Not only did Chris determine that the post could be removed, but he also discovered they could raise the ceiling, instantly making the room feel more open and airy.

With everything in place, the transformation began with the selection of beautiful Frameless Overlay Cabinets from Massachusetts Design in a crisp Frosty White, topped with a quartz countertop from Stone Lab Surfaces. The island, with comfortable seating for four, now serves as the heart of the kitchen.  The island itself is a workhorse, featuring a Moen Weymouth faucet, a trash compactor, and a dishwasher that make clean-up a breeze. Every corner of the island is used wisely, even featuring open shelving and a bump-out deep cabinet that ties in beautifully with the built-in breakfast area.

Across from the island, flanking the double oven range are the must-have tray divider cabinets, perfect for grabbing sheet pans in a flash for those quick meals. Deep drawers hold kitchen tools and essentials, while a spice rack pull-out keeps everything organized. On the opposite wall, tall pantry cabinets double as both household storage and a desk organizer, while elegant glass cabinets showcase a stunning collection of dishes.

Another highlight of the space is the beverage center, located right next to the cozy breakfast nook, where they can make their morning coffee and start the day right.  The client had a blast adding personal touches, choosing a playful mix of silver pulls from Cabinet Hardware Specialties – whimsical bees, vintage locks, and traditional designs – to give the space a unique flair.

With so many thoughtful features, this kitchen has truly become a dream space. Now, this husband-and-wife team can prep, cook, and enjoy their kitchen together, with everything they need at their fingertips. The best part? The homeowner says she got even more than she could have ever imagined!
