We had the pleasure of spending some time with our lovely clients in their “home away from home.” This couple spent their childhood summers savoring sun-soaked days in the Charlestown area, always dreaming of owning a piece of it themselves. After years of visiting, they finally found their dream home—a charming beach retreat where they could continue the tradition with their own kids. Now, after plenty of hard work and a dash of patience, they’re living their best beach life, where relaxation and unwinding are the daily norm.
To make this beloved beach house their own, a remodel was needed to update the original 1984 design aesthetic. Our clients envisioned a space that was not only bright and open, but also highly practical, with modern functionality. The goal? More storage space, especially to hide small countertop appliances, more countertop space for meal prep, and an overall better flow.
Our clients chose semi-custom Kith Kitchens Cottage Maple frameless full overlay cabinets in Bright White, which we brought to the ceiling to maximize storage. By reimagining the layout…removing a window and utilizing all three walls, we introduced a new flow, creating space for a built-in microwave and a stunning hood, over the range, as the kitchen’s focal point.
The transformation included a sleek white subway tile backsplash, beautiful Calacatta Manhattan quartz countertops from our friends at Image, and dark walnut-stained wood floors, that beautifully complemented their design aesthetic. Our clients selected matching GE Profile appliances and a Kohler farmhouse sink, accented with contrasting black drawer pulls and faucet, to enhance the kitchen’s modern, yet timeless appeal.
But the true charm lies in the custom touches: glass shelves extending down to the countertop, ideal for showcasing favorite dishes and bringing in those pops of color; wide drawers that offer convenient access to oversized items, and the beautiful built-in unit near the dining area for extra storage. The dark walnut-stained oak countertop and bench seat, perfectly tie the design together.
This project transformed more than just a kitchen—it brought to life the essence of our clients’ easygoing, beachside lifestyle. It was a delight to help them realize their vision and create a space where they can continue to create family memories summer after summer!
