Revitalizing this tired Tudor felt like breathing new life into a piece of history—if only the walls could talk! The moment the homeowner stepped into this 1930s treasure, she felt a deep connection. She knew this house was special, and she was ready to add her own history to the home. Her vision? An unfitted kitchen that’s as functional as it is beautiful, blending vintage charm with modern elements—a space that feels like a cozy European countryside retreat. She envisioned contrasting textures, a mix of materials, and a palette that balances warmth with elegance. But as clear as her vision was, she needed a team to help her bring it to life.
Enter Paul Firoetti from Edificio Architecture and Design, who took charge of the overall architectural plans, along with carpenter Joel Bissell and Mike Milici of Builders Etcetera Inc, who expertly guided the project to completion.
Dean Cabinetry was thrilled to join in, designing the heart of this kitchen, beginning with the homeowner’s selection of Designer’s Choice Frameless Overlay Atlas cabinets in stunning Steel Blue. To maintain that open, airy feel, the design focused solely on base cabinetry—delivering both style and plenty of storage and organization options. Brenton Satin Tuscan quartz countertops in gray perfectly complement and add a natural stone feel to the space. Farrow & Ball Setting Plaster on the walls to soften the color palette adding a delicate touch and texture to the design..
The Wolf Dual Fuel Range, paired with a sleek stainless-steel hood, is flanked by a convenient utensil pull-out drawer, keeping essentials within easy reach. The backsplash, in a neutral taupe wavy subway tile, adds texture to the space, while vintage lights with soft brass fixtures illuminate the area while cooking.
At the center of it all is an extra-large island with a decorative leg trim for a touch of flair. This island offers a bit of everything, from open shelving perfect for organizing with baskets to deep drawers for all your pots and pans. The Samsung microwave drawer is neatly tucked in and discrete at the end, next to the double trash pull-out and a cabinet with vertical dividers for sheet pans—keeping everything you need for meal prep right at your fingertips.
The Thermador refrigerator wall is all about functionality and practicality, featuring a quick-access tall utility cabinet for kitchen tools and cleaning essentials. And let’s not forget the built-in bookshelf for those beloved cookbooks—making the “What’s for dinner?” question a little easier to answer! To cap off this kitchen design, a walk-through butler’s pantry is stocked with everything needed for entertaining.
This kitchen truly blends the best of vintage style and modern convenience—a perfect mix that feels like home. This homeowner can’t wait to enjoy every moment in this beautifully transformed space!
