The Kitchen Story

After 23 years of memories in their home, this couple knew it was time to breathe new life into their 1960s kitchen. With the decision to stay in the home, they began a thoughtful journey to design a space that fit their everyday lives. The main goal was to seamlessly blend the kitchen and living area with their outdoor living space that they enjoyed on a daily basis. That’s when they made the call to Alex Papp of Bankside Partners to help with the transformation.

The original kitchen, while functional, had some limitations. Inadequate counter space and elbow room made dinner prep feel more like a juggling act. It got so crowded they found themselves taking turns just to navigate the space. Even the margaritas had to wait their turn! This renovation journey started with a Frameless Full Overlay John Dean Custom Cabinetry; blending warm tones of Stoffer Home Kensington taupe and flat-finished natural white oak. The cabinetry complements the wood-carved textured beams perfectly, creating an inviting, earthy feel. The homeowners chose mostly base cabinetry, which provides ample storage while keeping the view of their beautiful backyard wide open. A stunning stove top wall features decorative glass cabinets that stretch to the ceiling, a custom sloped hood, and oversized drawers ideal for organizing spices, utensils, and storage for pots and pans. The quartz countertops, full backsplash, and custom shelf add just the right touch of simple elegance.

The centerpiece of the kitchen is the extra-large island, crafted from natural white oak. It offers plenty of space for meal prep and storage, illuminated by the subtle glow of brushed bronze pendant lights. Everything is conveniently within reach—the sink with Kohler Artifacts faucet, double trash bins, and Miele dishwasher—making the kitchen perfect for both everyday cooking and entertaining. There’s now enough room for everyone to gather, and let’s just say, there’s no longer a waiting line for a margarita!

This dream kitchen has so many spectacular amenities including a baking station complete with a mixer lift. The opposite kitchen wall houses the main Thermador appliances (from Aitoro Appliance) and a cozy coffee bar. As a bonus, additional built-in cabinetry has a desk with recharging station and pantry for cleaning supplies and extra storage. And finally a wet bar and beverage center. Perfect for entertaining!

This kitchen is truly a timeless design, blending functionality and beauty to provide the perfect atmosphere to sit back and enjoy everyday. Raise a glass and cheers to this renovation!

“Our experience with Dean’s cabinets was amazing! From our first meeting with John Dean and Oakley until the final installation with Keaton, we couldn’t be more pleased. John educated us on the type and finishes of cabinets and made excellent suggestions on layout. We even moved a patio door to create a more cohesive flow of cabinets! Delivery, scheduling and installation was handled seamlessly by Kevin and he responds on weekends and holidays, imagine that! Thank you! Lastly, we can’t thank Keaton enough for his calm demeanor, great ideas, and expert craftsmanship. It is truly a family business and probably one of the best kept secrets in Fairfield county! We would highly recommend Dean’s.” – Client Review
