The Kitchen Story

After living in their Cromwell, CT home for several years, these homeowners knew it was time for a change. What started as a simple idea—to update an outdated hutch—quickly turned into a full kitchen renovation once they realized how much more functional and beautiful the space could be. Because this is their forever home, they wanted a kitchen that felt fresh, thoughtfully designed, and built to last.

As first-time renovators, they explored multiple cabinet options and design studios before discovering Dean Cabinetry through online search. What stood out immediately was the experience: instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, the DC team asked the right questions, listened carefully, and created a design that truly reflected how the homeowners live and use their kitchen every day.

A Collaborative, Well-Thought-Out Process

From the initial design conversations through final installation, the process felt smooth, organized, and efficient—especially important since the homeowners chose to self–general contract the project. The DC design team worked closely with them, offering smart suggestions and practical solutions, while respecting their vision and timeline.

One of the biggest highlights was the attention to detail. The layout was carefully planned to allow generous space around the island, creating better flow and functionality. Existing architectural details, like crown molding, were thoughtfully matched, so the new cabinetry felt seamlessly integrated into the home.

Materials, Features & Thoughtful Details

The kitchen features John Dean Custom Cabinetry, designed and built to suit the space perfectly. The upper and lower cabinetry showcases a Frameless, flat-panel door with a beveled edge in Benjamin Moore’s Chantilly Lace and an Island in Hale Navy, creating a look that feels both timeless and updated.

Function played a major role in the design. A standout feature is the island, which includes a sink positioned directly next to the dishwasher—making cleanup efficient. High-quality appliances, including a Wolf Double Wall Oven, complete the kitchen and elevate everyday cooking.

Installation was handled with the same level of care as the design. Our Installer, Joe, took extra time to ensure everything was done right—fine-tuning details, staying late when needed, and leaving the space clean and complete before moving on.

A Kitchen That Feels Just Right

The finished kitchen feels fresh, clean, and completely transformed—without losing its connection to the rest of the home. The homeowners were especially impressed with how organized, responsive, and supportive the DC team was throughout the process, from early planning through the final walkthrough.

Today, the kitchen reflects exactly what they hoped for: a space that’s welcoming, functional, and designed to support everyday living for years to come!
