A Space Ready for Its Next Chapter
This husband-and-wife team settled into their 1964 Manchester, CT home ready to invest in a kitchen that’s built to last. That meant finding a cabinet partner who could bring their vision to life.
Not new to renovation, the couple came to Dean Cabinetry with a clear appreciation for craftsmanship and a strong sense of what they wanted their finished space to feel like. A shop tour our facility gave them a firsthand look at our process, and it helped set the tone for the collaboration to come.
A Design Vision That Clicked
The kitchen’s original layout left the couple unsure of what the space could become; odd angles and an awkward flow made it hard to picture a design that felt open or functional. They needed a fresh set of eyes to see past the layout’s quirks.
That clarity arrived when Client Managers John and Cara talked through the space with them. From there, the layout moved forward with a clear direction: a double island that transformed the tricky footprint into a space built for everyday function and entertaining.
Custom Details That Define the Space
The finished kitchen features beaded inset construction. A mix of slab drawers and shaker door styles keeps a refined, classic look that adds interest throughout. The perimeter cabinetry is painted to match Benjamin Moore White Dove. Both islands, the floating shelves, and select cabinet backs are finished in a stained cherry that complements the room’s warm, layered palette. Garden State crown molding and recessed light rail molding add polish to every sightline.
The showstopper of the kitchen is the double island, the couple’s favorite element. Paneled appliances, including the refrigerator and dishwasher, keep the cabinetry lines clean and uninterrupted. A nook just off the kitchen houses a wet bar, a dedicated desk area complete with bookshelves, and a built-in bench seat, extending the kitchen’s function into a true multi-purpose living space. The design carries seamlessly into the adjoining living room, where custom shelving flanks the TV for a built-in, tailored look that matches the kitchen’s craftsmanship.
A Kitchen the Couple Is Proud to Call Home
Delivery and installation moved smoothly and stayed on schedule, with our installation team completing standout details, like the wet bar, with precision and care.
The result is a kitchen that reflects both the client’s taste and their lifestyle: elegant, cohesive, and full of thoughtful touches. It’s a space they’ll enjoy using and living in for the many years ahead.
